After a playing career that saw her star for Barcelona and RCD Espanyol Femeni, Arroyo turned to a managerial career with Catalonia women in 2014.
She was then appointed as the manager of Liga F side Real Sociedad Femenino in 2020 and she helped the club to finish second during the 2021/22 Primera Division. In her final season at the club, they finished as runners-up in the 2023/24 Copa de la Reina de Futbol.
On 22 January 2025, Arroyo was then appointed as the manager of Aston Villa.
Having failed to score in the WSL since a hugely successful loan move in 2022/23, Kirsty Hanson has started this season in excellent form in front of goal.
The Scotland international already has four to her name in just nine WSL appearances, almost 50% of the Villans’ goals in 2025/26.
Hanson’s game is about much more than goals, though, with her energy and ability on the ball a key asset for the visitors on Sunday.
Elsewhere, young midfielder Lucia Kendall has enjoyed a strong start to life at Villa after a summer move from Southampton.
She put in a Player of the Match display on her Lionesses debut against Australia, and followed that up with her first international goal in the recent international break against Ghana.
We last faced the Villans in March 2025, picking up a 2-0 win at the Joie Stadium in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Jess Park sealed the victory in the second half, with City also beating Villa 4-2 and 2-1 in our WSL encounters last season.
City extended our winning run to nine in the WSL with a hard-fought 3-0 win over Leicester at the King Power Stadium.
It took until the 74th minute for the deadlock to be broken, but our dominance finally paid off with a Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw brace.
The Jamaican then set up Kerolin for our third and final goal, as she marked her return to action following injury with a cleverly taken stoppage time finish.
