Man City star ‘quite close’ to returning | OneFootball

Enzo Maresca says Jeremy Doku is closing in on a return for Manchester City.

Doku has been sidelined with a calf injury since the Community Shield but Maresca revealed the winger is nearing a comeback.

“Jeremy is quite close,” the City boss said. “We are happy. He’s quite close.”

Doku could be involved when City take on Norwich in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night, while Maresca suggested young trio Kaden Braithwaite, Floyd Samba and Ryan McAidoo are likely to get minutes.

“These three players, they work with us regularly, every day, unless sometimes they go with the second team, the EDS, because they need to get minutes, they need to play,” he said.

“But they will be involved, all of them, in tomorrow’s game.

“I’m not saying from the beginning, but they’re going to be with us, and then we’ll see.”

Maresca added that City could call on further young players depending on how their final training session goes.

“We have a session in the afternoon and we’ll see if we need some more players.”
