Man City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is expecting a tough match against Inter Milan who are “dominating” Serie A.

The Belgian gave his thoughts on the upcoming Champions League showdown, via FCInterNews.

One of the marquee clashes of the first round of Champions League matches this season will undoubtedly be between Inter and Manchester City.

Italian champions the Nerazzurri travel to England to face the Premier League’s dominant force City.

On paper, City are probably the favourites, particularly playing at home. And that is how they are largely seen.

And one way or another, the match against City will certainly be a formidable challenge for Inter.

But on the other hand, City will know that they’re getting one of their own toughest matches of the competition right off the bat as well.

Inter and City have met recently in Europe. They contested the final of the 2022-23 Champions League.

The Cityzens prevailed on that occasion. But they won 1-0 in an even contest which saw Inter squander a few very good chances to equalize.

In the year and change since that Champions League final, both Inter and City have undergone change.

And in the case of the Nerazzurri, it would be tough to argue that these changes have not been an improvement.

When Inter met City in 2023, they did so having endured an erratic league season in which they lost twelve matches in Serie A alone.

But last time around, Inter lost just twice in the league.

City midfielder de Bruyne looked ahead to his team’s meeting with the Nerazzurri. “We faced Inter in the final two editions ago,” he said.

“We’re talking about a team that dominated the Italian league, and play good football,” he went on.

De Bruyne said that Inter are “A top side.”
