Man United 3-2 Fulham: Red Devils survive late scare for third win under Carrick

Manchester United survive a late Fulham scare to claim a 3-2 victory in stoppage time and rise to fourth in the Premier League table.
Goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha put United in the driving seat, before a Raul Jiménez penalty and strike from Kevin levelled the game.
Benjamin Šeško struck a brilliant effort into the top right corner in the 94th minute, which sees United into fourth following a third straight win for interim boss Michael Carrick.
Manchester United controlled the ball in the first half and posed a threat going forward, despite two early chances for Fulham through Joachim Andersen, but neither troubled Senne Lammens.
They also had chances through Samuel Chukwueze, Harry Wilson and Alex Awobi which were also easy saves for the United keeper.
Amad Diallo and Harry Maguire had chances saved at the other end, before a penalty check was denied by VAR to give United a free kick on the outside of the box.
Casemiro opened the scoring for Manchester United, heading in from Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick from the right to earn his fifth goal for the club.
United looked more organized and dangerous going forward, registering four shots on goal.
Although Fulham had seven chances, the hosts appeared the stronger side heading into the half-time break.
Early in the second half, Bryan Mbeumo went close to doubling United’s lead, but the Fulham keeper made the save.
Sander Berge was denied by Lisandro Martinez as the Cottagers threatened to equalize, as Wilson’s free-kick was held by the United keeper.
Matheus Cunha doubled United’s lead with a brilliant header into the net from Casemiro’s delivery.
Fulham later had a chance from a second Wilson free-kick, which was blocked by the United wall.
The rebound fell to Jorge Cuenca, who put it into the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed.
Benjamin Šeško could have scored seconds after coming on as a substitute, but his effort hit the crossbar.
Harry Maguire was shown a yellow card late in the second half for a foul on Jiménez, conceding a penalty for his side.
The Mexican striker slotted his penalty past Lammens to score Fulham’s first goal of the match, bringing the score to 2–1 – ending Carrick’s hopes of a clean sheet.
United had to work hard in the last few minutes of normal time to defend their 2-1 lead, but that soon changed as Kevin earned a late equalizer for his side.
Fulham’s hopes of a comeback were dashed as Benjamin Sesko scored a third goal in stoppage time, securing United’s victory.
Man United now look towards hosting Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford next Saturday afternoon, while Fulham host Everton at Craven Cottage.
