Manchester United are keen to avoid last-minute transfer surprises over Marcus Rashford.

Next week, the summer transfer window slams shut. We are now in the final days of clubs pulling off key deals to bolster their options for the months ahead, until the window reopens in the winter.

While the Red Devils may look to sign a striker and a left-back, some exits are also anticipated. Joshua Zirkzee, Harry Amass and Toby Collyer are among the players expected to leave.

Late transfer surprises

However, we may also see the Red Devils’ resolve tested over players like Noussair Mazraoui and Rashford.

AC Milan are expected to press for a late deal for Mazraoui, while Rashford’s future at the club also remains uncertain.

Last week, reports emerged that Barcelona still dreamt of re-signing the United attacker, and on Tuesday, another report suggested that Chelsea were eyeing Rashford too.

As such, a top club could look to pull off a late Rashford swoop.

Rashford and Ineos held clear-the-air talks

Interestingly, according to Football Insider, Marcus Rashford is definitely not leaving.

They explain: “Marcus Rashford held clear-the-air talks with senior staff members at Man United to discuss his long-term future ahead of his return.”

They add: “There is now a feeling that he will remain at Man United as a key part of Carrick’s plans for the season, having resolved any lingering concerns behind the scenes.”

Rashford changed Man United’s transfer plans

Before it became clear Rashford would stay, with many believing he would join Barcelona on a permanent deal, INEOS planned to sign a left winger.

However, as INEOS slowly embraced the possibility that Rashford could stay, and Michael Carrick was willing to work with him, those plans changed.

Now, all attention has turned to pursuing a left-back signing instead.

Bright against Hull, expected to start vs Ipswich

That said, Rashford, now United’s number nine, produced a bright cameo on Saturday against Hull City, looking direct and dangerous throughout.

He is now very likely to return to the starting line-up against Ipswich Town, and hopefully he will be the catalyst for a healthy United win after a false start, having lost 2-0 to Hull.
