Man United hold talks with Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic | OneFootball

Manchester United have held talks with the agents of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic as they try to secure their client a high-profile move to the Premier League, according to reports.

The Red Devils are determined to bring a new striker on board this summer after a dismal campaign which yielded only 44 league goals and a bottom-half finish.

The club have been hot on the trail of Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres, although bombshell reports today claim that the Swede is no longer of interest to United.

Having missed out on priority target Liam Delap earlier in the summer United remain without a marquee striker, and this has not gone unnoticed by Vlahovic and his entourage.

According to TEAMtalk the Serbian international “has his heart set on a move to the Premier League”, and sees the Old Trafford club as a possible destination.

As per the report United officials did meet with Vlahovic’s agents, however it was the player’s camp who initiated the talks and “the club didn’t specifically request the meeting to discuss the striker.”

Nevertheless, the Red Devils “didn’t close the door and took in the information” with a view to potentially returning to Vlahovic if Rasmus Hojlund leaves or they miss out on other targets.

Since the 25-year-old seems more set on a move to England in general than United in particular being told he’s a backup option for Ruben Amorim is probably still music to his ears.

TEAMtalk note that Nottingham Forest may be able to bring him to the Premier League, while AC Milan and Fenerbahce have also been linked.

Meanwhile news broke earlier today that Juventus have softened their stance on the player and are no longer looking to offload him, so his agents may be meeting with clubs for nothing.

Vlahovic scored 15 goals and provided four assists in 41 games for Juventus last season, a much better return than either of United’s senior strikers.

In fact, the futures of both clubs’ number 9s appear to be closely linked with Juventus exploring a move for Hojlund which would likely force Vlahovic out of the Allianz Stadium – whether he ends up at Old Trafford in return is anyone’s guess.
