The January window always delivers a storyline that grips the major clubs across Europe, and this time it is Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy commanding the spotlight, according to CaughtOffside. The Guinea international, available for €50m due to a release clause open only to a select group of elite sides, has drawn attention for the kind of goal record that demands respect. Forty five goals in sixty five games for Dortmund is the profile of a forward who has mastered efficiency, movement and poise inside the area.
Arsenal and Manchester United are both monitoring the situation closely. As one source put it, Guirassy “appeals” to the Gunners “because of his clinical style and experience”. Those words cut straight to the heart of Arsenal’s current attacking concerns. Viktor Gyokeres has taken time to settle, while Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have battled injuries and inconsistency. A short term finisher with proven Bundesliga precision may be exactly what they require.

United’s interest feels equally justified. With Ruben Amorim seeking experience at the top end of the pitch, Benjamin Sesko injured and Joshua Zirkzee uncertain to remain beyond January, the Old Trafford recruitment team are actively evaluating alternatives. Guirassy fits the mould of a reliable, seasoned scorer who offers immediate impact.
Paris Saint Germain supporters may currently be preoccupied with how to buy tickets for PSG vs Tottenham in the Champions League, yet their club hierarchy rarely stands still. The decision to loan out Randal Kolo Muani created a vacancy in the forward line, and Guirassy would undoubtedly be viewed as an upgrade on Goncalo Ramos. His movement, directness and composure inside the box align neatly with PSG’s existing attacking structure.
Guirassy turns thirty in March, yet his late blooming makes him even more attractive to ambitious clubs. He has entered a phase where his game intelligence is peaking, and the Bundesliga form speaks for itself. As one coaching source suggested, “You are not buying potential with Guirassy, you are buying certainty”. For €50m, certainty is a valuable commodity.
The biggest question now centres on who activates the clause first. Arsenal need goals, United need leadership in attack, and PSG need depth. Each of them sees something essential in Guirassy. The race is wide open, and the striker’s next move could shape the trajectory of more than one title chase.
From an excited supporter’s perspective, this story has all the ingredients of a proper mid season transfer battle. Guirassy feels like one of those forwards who suddenly explodes into relevance for every major club at the same time, and fans are already arguing over where he fits best. Arsenal followers are buzzing at the idea of a clinical striker finally arriving to lift the burden from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard, especially with Gyokeres yet to fully convince. There is a belief that Guirassy brings that ruthless edge needed to turn one point into three in tight matches.
United fans are expectant more than excited, because their frustration with the current attacking options has lingered for months. Zirkzee has slipped down the order, Sesko has not reached expected levels and Amorim needs someone who hits the ground running. Guirassy’s numbers offer reassurance, and many see him as a smart, short term fix with the experience to stabilise a shaky frontline.
PSG supporters are slightly sceptical about another forward being linked, but even they recognise that Guirassy represents a clear upgrade on Ramos. With Champions League pressure ramping up, there is shock among some fans that the clause is only €50m.
Wherever he ends up, this one has the feeling of a January flashpoint, and supporters across Europe will be watching closely.
