Manchester United are ready to open talks over a £30 million move for Club Brugge defender Joaquin Seys, according to The Mirror.

The Red Devils desperately need a new left-back to provide competition for Luke Shaw as Michael Carrick considers Patrick Dorgu a forward.

Man Utd have also faced rejection in their bid to sign Lewis Hall and Jorge Salinas. They have been forced to turn elsewhere. United’s radar has now landed on Seys.

Interestingly, the 21-year-old broke out on the right side of the defence, then caught the eye when he moved back to his natural left-back role last season.

The Man United target registered two goals and five assists in 39 league appearances.

He helped keep five clean sheets, winning 51 percent of his aerial and 62% of his ground duels.

It remains to be seen whether United will push forward with a deal for the Belgian international star who represented his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

United cannot afford to leave the left-back position unresolved for much longer ahead of what should be a very competitive season.

Seys could provide the competition and versatility the squad badly needs, making him a sensible player to pursue before the window closes.

But once that issue is addressed, United should immediately turn their attention towards midfield.

The arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have added quality and depth, yet Mason Mount’s latest injury changes the equation.

United cannot afford another spell where injuries leave them lacking creativity, energy and technical quality in the middle of the pitch.

The Mount situation should therefore prompt serious consideration of one, perhaps even two, further midfield additions.

United have made progress this summer, but there are still obvious gaps to address.

Strengthening both positions could make a significant difference to their chances of competing at the top.
