Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing Lamine Camara from AS Monaco this summer.
The 22-year-old Senegal international has been linked with multiple English clubs, and Monaco have already turned down an offer from Crystal Palace. They are holding out for a fee in excess of €60 million (£50m) for the African midfielder (h/t CaughtOffside).
Manchester United have already invested in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. However, they need more depth in the middle of the park, and the 22-year-old could be ideal for them. He will add physicality, defensive cover, and drive to the team. He is a young player with a lot of potential, and he will only improve with coaching and experience. He has all the tools to develop into a key player for Manchester United.
The asking price is quite high for an unproven talent like him, but he has the potential to justify the investment in the long-term. The transfer market is quite inflated for elite young talent like Camara, and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United is prepared to break the bank.
They have returned to the Champions League, and they will look to do well in the domestic competitions as well. Signing the right players will help them bridge the gap with Arsenal and Manchester City in the upcoming campaign. They need more quality in the midfield, and the Senegal International could be the ideal fit for them. It remains to be seen whether they can beat the competition from the other clubs and get the deal across the line.
The opportunity to play for Manchester United will be exciting for the young midfielder as well. It would be a major step up in his career, and he would get the opportunity to showcase his qualities at the highest level.
