Manchester United fought back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Selhurst Park and bounce back from their Monday defeat to Everton.

The visitors had a superb chance to take the lead early on in the game when Casemiro had a shot smothered by Dean Henderson at point-blank range.

However, the Eagles were the better of the two sides for much of that first half and took the lead with just over a half hour gone after penalty drama.

Leny Yoro was penalised for a foul on Jean-Philippe Mateta with the French forward then taking the resulting spot-kick. Mateta beat goalkeeper Senne Lammens but had to retake after kicking the ball into his own foot.

Fortunately for the Palace striker, he repeated the feat in his second attempt to put his side 1-0 up.

Ruben Amorim's team needed a big improvement in the second half and that is exactly what happened as Palace looked like a team tired from their European travels.

The equaliser came from a free-kick down the left that Bruno Fernandes put into Joshua Zirkzee who did well to finish from a tight angle and score his first Premier League goal in just under a year.

It was another set-piece that separated the two teams. This time it was a freekick closer to the goal that Bruno Fernandes rolled into the path of Mason Mount who struck low and hard past Henderson. The Palace goalkeeper will be very unhappy with how his wall was shaped which allowed Mount's effort to find a way through.

Palace lacked intensity and creativity as they searched for an equaliser with United able to hold on and end the Eagles' 12-game unbeaten run at home and move up into provisional sixth position in the table.
