Man Utd are reportedly among the clubs in the ‘race’ to sign RB Salzburg teenager Maurits Kjærgaard ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The 19-year-old has already been capped several times for Denmark’s U21s over the past couple of years.

The midfielder made his senior debut in the Austrian Bundesliga during the 2020/21 campaign. He has now grabbed six goals and 13 assists for RB Salzburg in 59 outings across all competitions.

He is under contract until 2026 but his performances have seemingly caught the attention of clubs across Europe.

Salzburger Nachrichten (via Sport Witness) are reporting that Man Utd are ‘in the picture’ to sign Kjærgaard later this year.

The Premier League outfit ‘could win the race’ to sign the teenager, who is understood to be valued at around £13m. The report also claims Man Utd recently sent scouts to watch Kjærgaard play for Denmark’s U21s.

Erik ten Hag will continue his rebuild of Man Utd this summer. The ex-Ajax boss has fared well since taking over last year and he has ended their trophy drought as they have already lifted the Carabao Cup.

But Man Utd have still reverted back to how they were last season at certain points. Their recent losses against Liverpool and Newcastle United were particularly concerning.

According to Football Insider, midfielder Donny van de Beek is ‘set to re-sign for Ajax’.

The Dutch giants are ‘keen to bring him back to the club’. They sold him to Man Utd in 2020 for a fee in the region of £40m.

Van de Beek was unable to establish himself as a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Ralf Rangnick. He has also struggled this season despite him previously doing well under Ten Hag at Ajax. The report adds.

‘It is believed that Man United would accept a bid of £25million for Van de Beek after a disappointing three-year spell at the club. ‘The midfielder’s contract runs until June 2025 and nets him a reported wage of £120,000-a-week. ‘Man United are already looking to bolster their midfield options ahead of a potential title charge in the 2023-24 campaign. ‘Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (4 April) that Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse is a summer target for the Red Devils. ‘Scott McTominay has been linked with an off-season exit, while Marcel Sabitzer will return to Bayern Munich following his loan spell at Old Trafford.’
