Nottingham Forest have placed a staggering valuation on Manchester City target Elliot Anderson ahead of the summer transfer window, as per a new report.
City are planning for life beyond departing club captain Bernardo Silva, who leaves the club as a free agent alongside John Stones, the pair of whom were given a heartwarming reception at the Etihad Stadium after their final games in sky blue last week.
Pep Guardiola has also brought the curtain down on an illustrious decade at Manchester City, who have lined up former EDS coach Enzo Maresca as the Catalan’s successor on a three year contract.
Maresca is understood to have held preliminary pre-season and transfer discussions with City sporting director Hugo Viana, who will back the incoming manager in the summer market as the Blues look to build on their Carabao Cup and FA Cup winning season.
City are prioritising a remake of their midfielder ahead of the new season, with top target Elliot Anderson believed to have indicated his preference of moving to the Etihad Stadium despite interest from Manchester United.
Sources close to the Etihad Stadium have recently clarified that the Blues hold no interest in Chelsea vice-captain Enzo Fernandez, who was being linked with a potential reunion with his former Stamford Bridge manager Maresca in Manchester.
Elliot Anderson: Manchester City’s Rodri or Bernardo Silva replacement?
According to Mail Sport, while Manchester United‘s ideal midfield transfer targets have been either Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni or Anderson, the latter is still expected to join Manchester City if a fee can be agreed.
From the side of those negotiating with the Etihad Stadium club, the report claims that Forest have been talking up a £125 million valuation on the England international, but City see a deal closer to £90 million.
A new right-back could also be on the agenda for City, who could sell wingers Savinho and Omar Marmoush to make room in attack should an opportunity arise to add a world-class option in the position – who could make an impact akin to that made by Antoine Semenyo upon his arrival from Bournemouth in January.
