The newly-formed American club announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website this evening.
While Castellanos will spend the next three NWSL seasons with Bay FC, it is understood that the club also hold an option to extend the arrangement by a further year.
The Venezuelan international joined former club Manchester City in summer 2022. She made 36 appearances for The Cityzens in all competitions in which she scored five goals. Castellanos struggled to nail down a place in the Manchester City side in the first half of this season and she will now benefit from a fresh challenge closer to home.
After securing Castellanos’ services, Bay FC General Manager, Lucy Rushton said “Deyna is a tremendous talent, who has already gained top-level experience playing abroad in some of the top leagues in the world as well as for her national team, and we believe she will make an immediate impact playing for this club in the NWSL. Deyna is a player you can’t take your eyes off – she is enigmatic, dynamic and will excite our supporters with her attacking flair and play.
“As an attacking midfielder, she can find her way out of tight spaces and deliver pinpoint passes, break lines with dribbling and passing and has the ability to create and score goals in many different ways, including from set pieces. We are thrilled to have secured her and be bringing her back to America and Bay FC.”
Bay FC’s first NWSL matchday is scheduled to take place in the middle of next month.
