Manchester City ‘found guilty’ of 114 Premier League financial breaches | OneFootball

According to The Athletic, Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 of 115 Premier League financial regulation charges, with sanctions yet to be decided.

The case follows an investigation into alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018. It was opened after Der Spiegel published confidential club financial documents in November 2018.

In February 2020, UEFA banned City from European competition for two seasons and fined them 30 million euros after those revelations. The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the appeal, lifting the ban and cutting the fine to 10 million euros, finding City had not disguised sponsorships but had failed to cooperate.

City maintain the Premier League process remains ongoing, that significant steps still lie ahead and that the case is strictly confidential. They add their stance is unchanged from a statement released in February 2023, and say they have followed due process for eight years while expecting independent and impartial oversight.

Possible penalties in the Premier League range from a reprimand and fines to points deductions or expulsion. Any decision could be appealed.
