Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League financial charges brought against the club.

The reported verdict represents a major development in a case that has been ongoing for several years, although no sanctions have yet been determined. City are expected to appeal the findings.

The charges were brought by the Premier League in February 2023 following a four-year investigation into alleged financial breaches between 2009 and 2018. They include accusations that the club failed to provide accurate information relating to revenue, sponsorship income and payments to players and managers, as well as alleged breaches of UEFA regulations and the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

The investigation began after German publication Der Spiegel released leaked documents concerning City in November 2018. The club has consistently denied the allegations.

Responding to Friday’s reports, a Manchester City spokesperson said the Premier League process “remains ongoing”, with significant matters still to be completed and subject to confidentiality.

Potential sanctions range from fines and points deductions to the most serious punishment of expulsion from the Premier League. Any punishment would also be subject to the club’s right to appeal.

The case now moves towards its next stage, with the eventual sanctions and appeal process set to determine the consequences for City.
