According to O Jogo, as cited by Sport Witness, Jackson Porozo has become a target for Manchester City. The Boavista centre-back is being closely monitored by the City Group, the parent company of Manchester City that owns several clubs across the world. The report suggests the group is close to reaching an agreement with Boavista surrounding the potential move for Porozo in the summer.
Jackson Porozo is a defensive talent from Ecuador who began his youth career at Independiente del Valle. He moved to Manta FC in 2016 before eventually joining Santos FC in Brazil as a youth player in 2018.
However, the youngster couldn’t make a breakthrough in Santos’ first team and was eventually shipped to Boavista in January 2020. It proved to be the turning point of his career, with the defender since establishing himself as one of the ever-present figures in the Boavista defence.
A centre-back by trade, Porozo has made quite an impression with his no-nonsense defensive philosophy. His intimidating presence at the back also offers him a significant advantage in both physical and aerial duels, thus making him a useful outlet in the defensive third.
The 21-year-old is a hard worker, often playing his socks off for his side. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, with the player notably being rewarded with two caps for the Ecuadorian national team.

Jackson Porozo has shown immense talent and potential during his time at Boavista so far. At just 21, he has time on his side and the room to further hone himself as a defender.
As far as Manchester City are concerned, it appears unlikely that City Group would want to draft him into the senior side of the English champions. Instead, they could ship him off to one of the clubs from La Liga or Ligue 1, with Troyes or Girona emerging as ideal alternatives.
Several players from Manchester City’s sister clubs have made quite an impression in recent years. Porozo, to that end, will be hoping to earn a similar level of success and potentially get the opportunity to make an impression under Pep Guardiola in the future.
Given the 21-year-old’s current progression, he is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on, as he can thrive in the Premier League with his physical and aerial superiority as a defender.
