Manchester City cruised into the FA Cup quarter-finals after a 3-1 victory on Newcastle United’s turf on Saturday night.
The Magpies struck first through Harvey Barnes in the 18th minute, but the Citizens hit back quickly as Savinho leveled the score in the 39th minute.
After the break, Egyptian international Omar Marmoush stole the spotlight, firing his side ahead in the 47th minute before notching his second—and sealing the win—in the 65th minute.
After the match, Manchester City’s manager heaped praise on the Egyptian striker for his outstanding display against Newcastle.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Pep Guardiola said:
"I'm very happy for Omar Marmoush. His second goal was magnificent. To beat Newcastle, you need a top performance—especially in the FA Cup."
He added: "He’s a top-class striker, extremely clinical in front of goal. His second finish really sums up his qualities. He still needs to improve a bit in tight spaces and with his first touch."
Guardiola concluded: "But he played a fantastic game. He fully deserves this moment. I’m absolutely delighted for him."
