Aston Villa could make a sensational attempt to re-sign Manchester City forward Jack Grealish this summer.

The 28-year-old hasn’t played for Manchester City since a 5-1 win over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium in early May, with the Englishman not featuring in the Premier League finale against West Ham or the Emirates FA Cup Final defeat to rivals Manchester United.

Grealish, who made only 10 Premier League starts during the recent 2023/24 campaign, was also agonisingly axed from Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the European Championship last month, with the Three Lions having reached the semi-finals with a penalty-shoot out win over Switzerland on Saturday.

The forward featured just 36 times for Manchester City during the recent season, and scored just three goals for the Sky Blues – Grealish’s lowest tally since his arrival from the Midlands in 2021 for a record-breaking £100 million.

Grealish’s season was further complicated by a series of injury problems and the addition of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais, although the Englishman has won seven trophies including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League with Manchester City, as Guardiola’s side clinched a sixth title in seven years.

The 28-year-old is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, but has been linked with a possible exit from east Manchester this summer, amid growing concerns following an underwhelming season.

Football Insider claim that Manchester City are ‘ready to sell’ the forward this summer despite plans for the Sky Blues to travel to the United States for a four-match tour later this month, and the new campaign being just over one month away.

The outlet report that Etihad bosses have ‘concerns’ surrounding his ‘partying’ lifestyle, and would be ‘willing’ to sanction the sale of the 28-year-old should they be able to ‘recoup a large chunk’ of Grealish’s nine-figure transfer fee.

Furthermore, Aston Villa would reportedly ‘jump’ at the opportunity to re-sign the 28-year-old this summer, with Unai Emery’s side competing in the Champions League next year as a result of last season’s historic top four finish.

Grealish, who has been training at the Juventus academy as part of pre-season preparations, is expected to be part of Guardiola’s travelling squad to America this month, with Manchester City facing friendlies against Celtic, AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea.

The Sky Blues will also begin their Premier League title defence against Chelsea in mid-August, as well as facing Manchester United in the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium next month.
