Wesley has grown rapidly since joining Roma, and his performances have attracted the interest of a few top clubs, starting with Manchester City. The Giallorossi fully plan to resist the offers and continue adding on the wings.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), the Sky Blues have been keeping tabs on the Brazilian international, who has lived up to the hype. If they decided he was worth the investment, they could tender €50M to lure him next summer.
Roma are pleased with Wesley and don’t intend to consider bids, coming from Manchester City or other outfits, as rich as they might be. The youngster had already been selected by his national team before landing in Italy. He has registered 3 goals and assisted once in 29 fixtures with the capital club.
Rather than cashing in on their men, the Giallorossi are eager to further bolster the position. They couldn’t find a lefty in January, so they kept Kostas Tsimikas. The hierarchy can pick and choose which flank to address, as the former Flamengo star has fared well on either. They are among the many teams eyeing Marco Palestra, but his price tag is considerable. Instead, Lorenzo Bernasconi could be a more attainable target.
It’s a natural stance at this stage, but in reality, their summer strategy will hinge on whether they’ll qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Plus, the Sky Blues rarely take no as an answer if they really like a player. He’s been just fine on the left, and Zeki Celik is likely leaving, so while a twofer is likely in the cards, they should splurge more on the right one.
