  • Manchester City have entered a battle with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.
  • Following record-breaking summer moves across the Premier League, the Cherries have torn up their initial valuation of the player and are now demanding a premium price.
  • As Enzo Maresca takes the reins at City, sporting director Hugo Viana is seemingly monitoring the 22-year-old England international to perhaps inject further dynamism into City’s core.

Manchester City reportedly hold a transfer interest in highly-rated Bournemouth and England international midfielder Alex Scott, according to new reports.

Following a landmark 2025/26 season that saw Bournemouth qualify for the UEFA Europa League under now-Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, the Cherries find themselves fending off approaches for their prized asset in central midfield.

Alex Scott’s meteoric rise on the South Coast – culminating in his recent travel to Florida as part of the senior England squad preparing for the ongoing World Cup – has solidified his reputation as one of the most gifted midfielders in English football.

At the Etihad Stadium, sporting director Hugo Viana and manager Enzo Maresca are actively drafting plans to inject further young, dynamic talent into an evolving central core that has already seen a £116 million move for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

With competition intensifying across the Premier League, the Sky Blues’ hierarchy has seemingly authorised inquiries into the availability of the 22-year-old midfielder to potentially anchor their new project under Maresca.

Man City enter race for Alex Scott

According to MailSport’s Chris Wheeler, Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has attracted transfer interest from across the Premier League this summer, now including from those at Manchester City.

The England international is also ‘admired’ at Manchester United, while their ‘main rivals’ are expected to be Arsenal at present, with other interest coming from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur – although the latter have just signed both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

From the perspective of Bournemouth, they continue to insist that the 22-year-old is not for sale and want to improve his current contract which runs until 2028. While there had been a feeling that a transfer would sit in the region of £60 million, the Cherries are reportedly set to demand even more following other midfield deals in the Premier League this summer.

The battle for Bournemouth’s star midfielder

Having rejected initial formal enquiries from Premier League clubs, Bournemouth’s internal valuation is likely to have sky-rocketed toward the £80 million mark for any side looking to make concrete approaches for Alex Scott.

The player remains bound to a five-year contract expiring in June 2028, and the club may want to insert a protective release clause – modelled on the blueprint used during Antoine Semenyo’s high-profile switch to Manchester City in January.

As pre-season training looms closer for Manchester City, with a mid-July return date pencilled in for those exiting the World Cup early and those not at the tournament entirely, their financial might could give them the upper hand should Hugo Viana decide to test Bournemouth’s resolve.
