Recent reports linking Manchester United with a move for Fermin Lopez have spread like wildfire, with the news reporting that the Premier League giants are ready to make an offer.

In fact, Man United are reportedly ready to pay up to €70 million in addition to doubling the player’s salary at Old Trafford.

This has led to a lot of chatter around Barcelona, who are currently going through a financial crisis and desperately require big sales.

No talks between Barcelona and Man United

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has squashed these claims, suggesting that no talks have taken place between Manchester United and Barcelona over Fermin Lopez.

This could come as a relief for Hansi Flick, in particular, as the German is keen on having Fermin as part of the team next season.

Despite not being labelled as a regular starter, Flick values Fermin quite highly and wants to utilise his tactical flexibility and creativity in the final third.

Therefore, the German doesn’t want Barcelona to listen to offers for the Spanish international, who has featured in almost 100 matches for the clubs since making his breakthrough under Xavi Hernandez.

Fermin, for his part, is determined to continue at Barcelona and fight for his place in the starting eleven.

The Spaniard is, therefore, fully focused heading into the new season as he looks to compete with the likes of Dani Olmo, Gavi and Raphinha.

As for Barcelona, the club may have to look at other player sales in order to bring in the fresh revenue they desire. Ronald Araujo, for one, is an option, although the club are not too keen on selling the Uruguayan international either.
