Manchester United manager Michael Carrick reportedly does not fully trust Luke Shaw off the ball.

Shaw was at fault for Ipswich’s opener, struggling to contain Abdul Fatawu.

Carrick has made the need for another left-back clear to the Man United recruitment team, and they have to sign one before tomorrow’s deadline.

The 31-year-old needs quality competition and not just cover.

Carrick has other players who can cover at left-back, but Man United need to sign a player capable of improving their squad.

They have been linked with Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall all summer, but they have no interest in selling him.

The Red Devils have just a few hours left in the transfer window to sign a top left-back.
