Manchester United confirm signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa on five-year deal

Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa on a five-year deal, confirmed on Tuesday. The 29-year-old has 90 caps for Belgium.

His arrival follows Monday’s announcement of Andrey Santos. Reports in Belgium put the fee at €41m, matching his release clause.

He bolsters a midfield without Manuel Ugarte for the long term after a ruptured cruciate ligament at the World Cup, while Casemiro has departed on a free.

Tielemans previously played for Monaco and Leicester. Belgium exited the World Cup in the quarter-finals to Spain, 1-2, though he missed that match.

He has just completed three successful seasons with Aston Villa, winning the Europa League in May.
