Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu is set to be back in the squad to play against Brentford at Old Trafford tonight, according to reports.

He has been unavailable for selection since January after an injury in the league game at Arsenal.

The Red Devils were targeting the Liverpool game on Sunday for Dorgu, but he has handed interim manager Michael Carrick a huge boost and could play tonight.

The Denmark international trained alongside Leny Yoro yesterday. The Frenchman could also be available for selection tonight.

Dorgu has missed the last ten Premier League games. While United have done well in his absence, losing just two of those fixtures, having him back with the squad is a much-needed boost.

The left-back featured as a left winger in his last two appearances, scoring in both games, and Carrick could be eager to throw him back into action.

Victory for the Red Devils tonight could be enough to guarantee them a place in the group phase of next season’s Champions League, and the players will be raring to go.

They take on Liverpool, Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion in their remaining league games after tonight and will be eager to ensure they finish third in the table.

Matthijs de Ligt is now the only injured Man United player. He will hope to return to action before the end of the season.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen at the back in the summer transfer window.

They are reportedly keeping tabs on left-footed centre-backs, with Nottingham Forest’s Murillo and Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky Van de Ven on their radar.
