Manchester United could have a fight on their hands to keep Bruno Fernandes.
That is according to The Telegraph, who report that Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray are preparing an offer to try and lure the United captain away from Old Trafford.
Fernandes, 31, has one year left on his deal in Manchester, and it was previously revealed that, until recently, he had a release clause in his contract of around €65million.
That clause, however, has since expired, but that has not deterred Gala from circling.
The Turkish champions are thought to be readying at €50m bid to test United’s resolve.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that they are willing to double Fernandes’ wages to try and bring him to the Super Lig.
The Athletic reports that they have offered the playmaker €20m (£17.1m) a year.
The Portugal international broke the Premier League record for the most assists in a single season last term - 21 - as United finished third under Michael Carrick, who replaced Ruben Amorim in January after the former Sporting Lisbon boss’ sacking.
Fabrizio Romano reports that United offered their skipper a new contract back in May, but nothing has been agreed or announced yet.
It is also thought that there are other clubs on the continent that have voiced an interest in Fernandes’ services, but as it stands, he will remain at Old Trafford, with the Premier League season set to commence this weekend.
The Press Association reports that United will reject any bids for their No8 before the transfer deadline.
The Red Devils travel to newly-promoted Hull City, and Fernandes is back in action after his World Cup campaign with Portgual, where they reached the last 16.
