Man United are likely to be busier than expected today

It has been a solid transfer window for Man United after qualifying for the Champions League, overhauling the midfield by bringing in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba.

Karl Darlow has also arrived to provide cover for No1 Senne Lammens, while Marcus Rashford has been reintegrated after two loan spells in the past 20 months.

Man Utd head coach Michael Carrick has suggested it will not be a quiet Deadline Day for his side, though it remains to be seen if the elusive left-back signing will arrive to reinforce the squad further.

Standard Sport takes a look at what could be in store for the Red Devils in the final hours of this summer's transfer window...

United have been surveying the left-back market all summer with a deal for primary target, Lewis Hall, deemed too expensive to complete in this window.

As such, a temporary signing to provide competition for Luke Shaw this season would allow United to keep the 21-year-old as an option for next summer.

Alejandro Balde, as per The Athletic, has been considered, with his future at Barcelona uncertain. However, he looks set to stay put. Not to mention it would be a costly deal to complete.

Jorge Salinas represents the cheaper option due to the €16million (£13.7m) release clause in his contract at Racing Santander, though Atletico Madrid have been in talks for the 19-year-old.

Despite Gary Neville’s cry of a central defensive signing, Carrick does seem content with Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, and when fit again, Matthijs de Ligt.

Question marks remain over Rashford’s future, though a move to a Premier League rival has been ruled out which suggests he is set to stay unless a late offer from abroad comes in.

One exit in the forward department could be in the form of Joshua Zirkzee with the Dutchman being linked with a return to Italy as Juventus and Fiorentina are said to be interested.

Having been overlooked for the centre-forward role at the start of the season - even with Benjamin Sesko working his way back to fitness - Zirkzee now appears to be the third choice option, and possibly lower given Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo can also operate centrally.

Elsewhere, Man United are looking to loan moves for a number of youngsters. Harry Amass has reportedly been told he can leave the club, which could be a risky strategy when considering the left-back situation.

Chido Obi could leave on loan to aid his first-team development after impressing at youth level for Man Utd and, previously, Arsenal.
