The 31-year-old has less than a year remaining on his current contract, although the Red Devils have the option to extend it by another year.

He currently earns around £300,000 per week but new terms would put him on a salary of around £350,000 per week, per The Sun

Fernandes has been United’s best signing since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement. He has bagged 110 goals and 109 assists in 329 appearances.

The Portuguese won the prestigious Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year award after an excellent 2025-26 season.

The salary on offer was a whopping £640,000 per week, tax-free, but he decided to stay at United.

Fernandes struggled to create chances in the league opener against Hull City.

But the midfielder bounced back with a stellar display against Ipswich Town on Sunday. He scored a hat-trick to lead his team to an emphatic 5-2 success at Old Trafford.
