Manchester United have resumed discussions with Napoli over the possible signing of striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports from France.
The Nigerian forward was widely expected to move to Saudi Arabia this summer after strong interest from Al-Hilal.
However, despite the lure of a lucrative offer, the 25 year old failed to agree terms with the Saudi Pro League club.
Osimhen, who made his name at Lille before moving to Serie A, is now on the lookout for a new club, with a return to Napoli looking increasingly unlikely.
Galatasaray are also said to be interested, but the Premier League remains a more attractive destination for the forward, who is thought to be keen on testing himself in English football.
Osimhen had already spoken to United in May to explore a potential move to Old Trafford, and sources now claim that talks have been reignited in recent days.
According to Foot Mercato, negotiations are said to be based on the same terms as those discussed previously, with the striker requesting a €12 million annual salary and Napoli demanding a transfer package worth €75 million, including bonuses.
Should United complete the deal, it would be a major statement of intent and a significant boost to their frontline ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Manager Ruben Amorim is keen to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours, and bringing in a forward of Osimhen’s calibre would go a long way to addressing last season’s lack of firepower.
He scored 37 goals for Galatasaray last season, highlighting his clinical ability in front of goal.
His pedigree at the highest level makes him an excellent candidate to lead the line for Amorim’s side.
With talks now progressing, United fans will be hopeful that the club can finalise a deal for one of Europe’s most exciting centre-forwards in the weeks ahead.
