Manchester United could hand Sam Johnstone an exit from Wolves this summer. Gazzetta suggests that Juventus are monitoring Emi Martinez’s situation at Aston Villa.

Johnstone, 33, is expected to leave Molineux as Wolves revamp their goalkeeping department following relegation to the Championship. United are considering a move for their former youth product as they seek cover for No.1 Senne Lammens.

The keeper came through United’s academy, had loans at Walsall and Villa, then joined Albion for an initial £6.5 million in 2018. He made 167 appearances in four years with the Baggies and later spent two seasons with Crystal Palace before joining Wolves in 2024. He has made 27 appearances at Molineux and missed the final months of this season with a shoulder injury.

Martinez was close to leaving Villa last summer, though an anticipated switch to Manchester United never materialised. The 33-year-old then played a key role in Unai Emery’s team winning the Europa League and sealing a top-four Premier League finish.

Villa are not actively looking to sell, though a decent offer could prompt a rethink. Any developments are not expected until after the World Cup, with Martinez aiming to help Argentina defend their title.
