Sunderland will track Jobe Bellingham’s situation after fresh Manchester United interest, a development that could hand the club a financial boost from last summer’s sale. TEAMtalk reports that United have the midfielder back on their radar ahead of the summer window.

The report says United are weighing several midfield options, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Atalanta’s Ederson among the leading names. Bellingham is one of a number they have done work on, alongside Elliott Anderson, Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton, Noah Sadiki, Matheus Fernandes and Alex Scott.

Bellingham left Sunderland for Borussia Dortmund last summer for £27.8 million plus £4.2 million in add-ons, a record sum received by a newly promoted Premier League club. He signed a five-year deal and Sunderland inserted a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

Such a clause can apply to the full fee or to profit above what Dortmund paid. On a full-fee basis, a £40 million move would return £6 million to Sunderland.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with interest in Bellingham’s progress since his Birmingham City days.

The 20-year-old has started 18 of Dortmund’s last 20 matches and has 31 Bundesliga appearances this season. His overall Dortmund record stands at 48 games and one goal in all competitions.

He made 90 appearances and scored 11 goals for Sunderland, helping win promotion to the Premier League. After joining from Birmingham in 2023, he scored his first senior goals in a 2-1 win over Rotherham, later netted against Birmingham, and was EFL Championship Young Player of the Season in 2025. He also started the play-off final win over Sheffield United at Wembley.
