Manchester United trio Grace Clinton, Maya Le Tissier and Ella Toone have all been included in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for the upcoming UEFA Women’s Championship in Switzerland.
The three played key roles for United in a successful WSL campaign that saw the club finish in third place and qualify for the Champions League.
United also made it to the FA Cup final for a third consecutive year but they suffered a 3-0 defeat to WSL Champions Chelsea in the final at Wembley.
Clinton scored eight goals for United in the 21 WSL appearances she made. Le Tissier played all 22 of United’s top-flight matches and was the lynchpin of what was the division’s best defence.
Clinton and Le Tissier were named in the Barclays WSL Team of the Season.
Meanwhile, Toone scored five goals and provided an additional two assists in 18 WSL games, earning herself United’s Player of the Year award.
The three United stars have all been regulars for the Lionesses during the qualifiers and are now set to feature in the UEFA Women’s Championship, which will be held between 2 and 27 July.
England are the current holders and will be aiming to retain their crown.
Toone was of course part of the squad that won the competition in 2022. The 25-year-old scored the opener in the final win over Germany.
The forward also took part in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, where England lost to Spain in the final.
By contrast, this will mark the first time Clinton and Le Tissier take part in a major tournament, a significant milestone in their international careers.
England have been drawn in Group D, alongside France, the Netherlands and Wales.
