Five-goal second half sends Old Trafford into rapture
Manchester United and Bournemouth played out an instant Premier League classic as they drew 4-4 at Old Trafford on Monday night. Ruben Amorim’s side came into the match knowing they could move fifth in the table with a big win, but the night did not go entirely to plan. It started well, though, as Amad Diallo opened the scoring after 13 minutes, but United were pegged back by Antoine Semenyo shortly after. That was the Ghanaian’s first goal since October 3.
Casemiro added a second to restore United’s lead in first-half injury time. A chaotic second-half, though, began with quickfire goals from Evanilson and Marcus Tavernier putting Bournemouth 3-2 clear, before the hosts answered back with a quickfire pair of their own, featuring a gorgeous Bruno Fernandes free-kick. Junior Kroupi added the Cherries’ fourth shortly after to restore parity, which held through a frenetic near 11 minutes of injury time in which Senne Lammens made three crucial saves.
It is a match which will live long in the memory .Catch up with the action as it happened below with Standard Sport’s dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis.
