Bragging rights, and more, go the way of Man City
A huge Manchester derby was the headline act of the Premier League weekend as Manchester were beaten by ten-man Man City at Old Trafford. Phil Foden was shown a red card midway through the first half for kicking out at Bruno Fernandes, though Erling Haaland’s goal - allowed to stand after a VAR check - proved to be the decisive moment.
For Michael Carrick's side, the result continues what has been an underwhelming start to the season with just four points won from their opening four games as they were unable to replicate the 2-0 win at Old Trafford in January, despite playing for well over an hour with the extra player.
Maresca, meanwhile, continues his perfect start to life at the Etihad with a fourth straight win, topped off by matching the likes of Sven-Goran Eriksson and Pep Guardiola by winning his first Manchester derby.
