Manchester United are considering a move for Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall as they look to strengthen their options at left-back.
While Luke Shaw completed the 2025–26 season without injury, his previous track record means United are keen to ensure adequate cover for the England international next term.
Hall offers a rare blend of youth, durability, and technical quality. Since arriving at St James’ Park from Chelsea, he has quickly established himself as one of the country’s top full-backs. His ability to drift into central midfield and dictate play from deep positions has earned him admirers in the Man United hierarchy.
Securing a deal, however, will require a significant financial package. Newcastle are under pressure to navigate strict financial regulations and may need to raise funds, but they are reluctant to lose a prized homegrown asset to a direct Premier League rival.
The Tyneside club have reportedly set an initial valuation of £50m. Despite the steep price tag, Hall’s current circumstances could give United an edge. He was disappointed to miss out on Thomas Tuchel’s final England squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
That frustration, combined with spells on the bench behind the more defensive Dan Burn at certain points in the 2025-26 season, has reportedly left the ‘outstanding’ Hall considering his long-term future.
Hall is not the only Newcastle player linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer. Sandro Tonali also remains on United’s wishlist, though it is unclear if the Red Devils will make a concrete move.
