Real Madrid have started the transfer window like a whirlwind, signing four players already: Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva.
Perhaps the most important piece of business they have done so far, though, is appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager, and the Portuguese tactician seems keen on revamping the squad.
It looks like signing another midfielder is also at the top of Mourinho’s priority list, but to invest a high fee in a Galactico midfielder, sales may be needed.
Among those midfielders whose futures at the club are not set in stone is Aurelien Tchouameni.
The Frenchman has been a vital cog in Los Blancos’ midfield for a few seasons now, but it looks like the club could be to part ways with him if a good offer comes in.

One of the clubs said to be interested in signing the 2022 World Cup finalist is Manchester United.
Manchester United’s interest in Aurelien Tchouameni appears serious, with the Red Devils willing to make him one of the top earners in the squad.
According to Ben Jacobs, via The United Stand, Tchouameni’s wages would not be an issue for United.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem if the English club decide to push seriously for the Frenchman. This is very important for Real Madrid because salaries can often complicate such deals.
Los Blancos tend to pay their star players well, and moving them on becomes difficult when the next club is not willing to offer as much.
Manchester United have a Casemiro-shaped hole in their midfield, with the Brazilian leaving at the end of last season to move to Inter Miami.

Although they have wrapped up a deal for Ederson, the Atalanta midfielder is not a natural replacement for the outgoing veteran.
Tchouameni, on the other hand, is tailor-made for that role. The Frenchman excels at being the deepest midfielder and is happy to do the dirty work.
With Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes alongside him, he will not have to take on the creative burden and can stick to what he does best.
For Madrid, it is all about the right fee. If Manchester United make an offer that they deem acceptable, they should not hesitate to accept it for Tchouameni.
As decent as he has been, Los Blancos’ midfield is crying out for a different option, one who can orchestrate the game like Toni Kroos, and it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils make an offer for Tchouameni in the coming weeks.
