At 93:38 in El Sardinero, Manex Lozano again burst in behind for Racing, but Joan García’s strong right arm kept Barça on course for the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.
According to SER Deportivos Cantabria, his agent Héctor Fernández views him as an Aduriz-style finisher with notable speed for his size.
The late chance came after a poor Cubarsí clearance gifted possession to Sangalli, who fed Iñigo Vicente to release Lozano once more. The forward tried to drive across goal, only for García to repel the effort with authority. An on-pitch rebuke from Andrés Martín looked out of place, given how unsettled Barça had been by Lozano.
Minutes earlier, the teenager had twice found the net. First from another run in behind similar to the final break, then with a poacher’s finish from an Iñigo Vicente cross, but both were ruled out on the pitch for offside. After full-time, Arana consoled him on the turf and Asier Villalibre congratulated him in the dressing room.
Manex Lozano, born in Pamplona in 2007, is a youth-age striker added this winter by sporting director Chema Aragón following Jeremy Arévalo’s departure. He is under contract with Athletic Club until 2029, had been featuring for Basconia, the third team, in Segunda Federación and in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored six goals in six matches. He debuted for Racing last Saturday, opening his account in professional football.
