United’s engine room has long been crying out for quality reinforcements, and INEOS are expected to act decisively to provide the upgrade it so desperately needs.

A host of top midfielders continue to be linked with Old Trafford, and among them is Manu Koné.

Koné expected to sign for United

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report suggesting that Koné is keen on joining United, with the source claiming the 24-year-old “will leave the Italian capital in June to join United.” For around €60 million, United were expected to close the deal.

Yet, just as United fans were bracing for the club to pull off the move, a bombshell has dropped from Italy.

Why Koné to United is not as straightforward as suggested

According to Calciomercato, the pursuit of Koné will be anything but simple for the 20‑time English champions.

The Italian outlet insists:

“Manu Koné remains the dream of Inter and Chivu.”

However, it is not only Inter Milan and United competing for his signature; the transfer battle has intensified.

“[Roma’s] sporting director Massara, in fact, values him at around €55–60 million and is aware that a sort of auction will be unleashed for him this summer, involving Atlético Madrid, United, and PSG,” adds Calciomercato.

With the battle lines drawn and the price tag set, the decision may ultimately hinge on which project convinces the French international.

Perfect for Amorim’s project

United fans will hope the player’s dream project is the one in M16. Ruben Amorim, the Red Devils’ head coach, has made no secret of his desire for athletic, energetic midfielders who excel at pressing, tackling, and covering ground. Koné fits that profile to perfection.

Standing at 6ft 1in, the dynamic Roma midfielder is an all‑action presence. He breaks up play with robust tackling and interceptions, while also offering press‑resistant dribbling and forward thrust. In short, he looks tailor‑made for Amorim’s engine room.

Undoubtedly, if Koné were to be signed, he would massively raise the levels in United’s engine room.
