Zinsberger will miss the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

A club statement said: “Manuela sustained the injury during a training session while preparing for our trip to face Benfica in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Our Austrian goalkeeper will undergo surgery in due course and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025/26 season. Manuela is being closely supported by our medical team at Sobha Realty Training Centre, and everyone at Arsenal looks forward to seeing her return to action as soon as possible.”

The injury comes at a difficult time for Renée Slegers, who is already managing a growing list of absences within the squad. Anneke Borbe has been sidelined with illness, while Katie Reid has been dealing with a groin problem.

In Lisbon, Emily Fox and Steph Catley both picked up fresh injuries during the 2-0 victory over Benfica. Fox was forced off after an ankle knock from a heavy challenge, while Catley appeared to pull her hamstring after trying to play through discomfort.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Daphne van Domselaar will now not join up with her international teammates due to ‘fitness issues’.
