Johan Manzambi faces a race to be fit for Switzerland’s World Cup quarter-final against Argentina on Sunday.

Two days out, his availability remains unclear, with Swiss outlet Blick reporting there are major doubts over the highly rated midfielder.

Manzambi has yet to return to training after a knee injury that kept him out of the round-of-16 penalty shootout win over Colombia.

The Swiss Football Association has declined to provide updates on the SC Freiburg player, likely to keep Argentina guessing for as long as possible.

The injury was sustained on Monday, and with such issues typically requiring one to two weeks of recovery, his chances for Sunday look tight.

Even so, there remains hope within the Swiss camp that the 20-year-old could feature.
