CET-Rio will run a special traffic operation around the Maracanã on Thursday 17 for Flamengo v Independiente del Valle in the Libertadores, with parking bans and access restrictions from 10:00 Brasília time.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the measures are scheduled to end at 1:30 on Friday 18. CET-Rio staff and traffic stewards will be stationed at key points to guide drivers and keep flows moving.

Main closures include Avenida Maracanã in both directions between Rua São Francisco Xavier and Avenida Rei Pelé. Avenida Rei Pelé will also be blocked towards Centro.

Motorists are advised to avoid the Maracanã area during the operation and use public transport where possible. Alternative routes will be available between Centro and Zona Sul, Tijuca, Vila Isabel, Grajaú and the Grande Méier. 13 variable-message signs will flag closures, while COR-Rio will monitor cameras and adjust signal timings to improve flow.

A full house is expected for this quarter-final, with more than 55,000 tickets issued and only limited seats left in the South and Maracanã Mais sections.

The first leg in Quito finished 2-0 to Flamengo, so the hosts can afford a one-goal defeat and still reach the semi-finals. If Del Valle win by two, the tie will be settled on penalties. Kick-off is at 21:30 Brasília time, with live coverage on ESPN and Disney+.
