Maracanã to host 2027 Women’s World Cup opener and final

FIFA confirmed the 2027 Women’s World Cup schedule in Brazil. The Maracanã will host the opener on 24 June with the hosts, and the final on 25 July, with Brazil seeded in Group A.
Brazil’s second group match is in São Paulo at Neo Química Arena, then Brasília’s Mané Garrincha on 4 July.
The group draw will be held in December in Brazil. The tournament features 32 teams, with 14 places still open, seven from Europe, four from Concacaf and three via an intercontinental play-off.
Neo Química Arena will stage 10 matches, the most of any venue, while the Maracanã and Fortaleza’s Castelão have nine each. Mineirão has eight, and Mané Garrincha, Beira-Rio, Arena Pernambuco and Fonte Nova seven apiece.
Round of 16 venues and dates: Castelão 10 and 13 July, Mineirão 11 July, Neo Química Arena 11 July, Fonte Nova 12 July, Arena Pernambuco 10 July, Mané Garrincha 13 July, Beira-Rio 12 July. Quarter-finals: Mineirão 16 July, Castelão 17 July, Maracanã 16 July, Neo Química Arena 17 July.
Semi-finals: Neo Química Arena 20 July, Maracanã 21 July. Third place is in São Paulo on 24 July, the final in Rio de Janeiro on 25 July.
The play-off will decide the last three berths. A preliminary round from 24 November to 5 December features Taiwan, Uzbekistan, South Africa, Ghana, Ecuador and Papua New Guinea, with each side playing three games and the top two advancing to a final phase from 23 February to 6 March with Venezuela, two Concacaf teams and one UEFA team.
