Marc Cucurella and Gavi have made good on their World Cup promises, the Real Madrid full back getting a Luis de la Fuente tattoo and the Barcelona midfielder going fuchsia pink.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Spain were crowned world champions on 19 July. Cucurella’s pledge went viral weeks before the final during an interview with Juanma Castaño.
Around 10 days after the triumph, he posted Instagram images of the inking with a note that the promise had been kept. The design shows the Spain coach holding the World Cup.
Gavi had vowed to change his look if Spain won, and on Thursday 6 August he shared two photos revealing freshly dyed fuchsia hair. His hairdresser Raúl Sanromá also uploaded a video of the cut, bleach and dye.
Supporters now await others to honour their pledges. Álex Baena and Borja Iglesias said they would tattoo de la Fuente’s face if Spain took the title, while David Raya mentioned a World Cup themed tattoo but not the coach’s portrait.
Promises from Pedri and Ferran Torres also remain. Pedri said he would go white or blond, and Ferran vowed to shave his head, a point Princess Leonor playfully raised during the squad’s reception at the Palacio de la Zarzuela.
