Marc Guiu is nearing a permanent move to RB Leipzig after being omitted from Xabi Alonso’s early-season Chelsea squads. The 20-year-old forward is expected to leave Stamford Bridge following a campaign of limited league minutes.

The Athletic reports Leipzig are close to an agreement in principle to sign the striker. The deal is not yet finalised, but it is widely expected to proceed without complications.

Guiu was left out of Chelsea’s opening two matches, against Fulham in the Premier League and Luton Town in the League Cup, indicating he is not in the manager’s plans.

Chelsea initially sought around £25 million, then lowered their valuation earlier this week to smooth a permanent exit.

He joined on a six-year contract in July 2024 after Chelsea activated a €6 million clause to sign him from Barcelona, where the La Masia graduate made seven senior appearances.

Last season he made eight Premier League appearances with one start. A loan to Sunderland was cut short in under a month to cover a sudden centre-forward crisis at Stamford Bridge.

Guiu is set to become the third recognised striker to depart this window, following Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa and Liam Delap to Nottingham Forest. Chelsea have reshaped their attack, with Joao Pedro the first-choice striker and summer arrivals Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck adding competition.
