Marcelo Saracchi has made an instant impression on Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic supporters, and it looks like he’s impressed Marcelo Biesla as the Uruguayan international manager has named him in his latest squad for the South American nation’s upcoming friendlies against the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan.

The on-loan left back has already represented his nation on nine occasions, and been part of many squads, so he will be undoubtedly be looking to make an impression especially with the two times World Cup winners having already secured a spot in next summer’s tournament which will take place in Central and North America.
Marcelo is a superb player and one who will be doing his upmost best to impress on the international arena which can only be of great benefit to Celtic with a long gruelling and difficult campaign ahead.

Hopefully Marcelo takes his chance and shows Marcelo Biesla he’s worthy of a regular start at international level. It would be ideal if he could arrived back unscathed too!
Curiously Celtic don’t have an option to buy as part of the season long loan deal but that might not stop the club making a move to secure the left-back on a permanent contract next summer.
With Kieran Tierney still coming to terms with playing regularly after his injury woes at Arsenal and Scotland, Saracchi has proved himself to be a competent player and an astute signing by Celtic.
Greg Taylor’s absence is curtly being felt in that inverted full-back role and Marcelo seems better equipped than KT to offer that option. Last week against Sporting Braga, Brendan Rodgers changed from his standard 4-3-3 formation at the interval with Tierney playing at the left side of the back three and Saracchi playing as the left wing-back.

That, if the Celtic manager opted to use that 3-5-2 formation again would allow Saracchi and Alistair Johnston (back from injury soon) to bomb down the wings, KT to shore up the defence and allow both Kelechi Iheanacho and Daizen Maeda to form a partnership up front with Sebastian Tounekti playing as a 10.
We might see this type of formation in the Europa League match against Sturm Graz and it could make all the difference.
