Leaders of Santos’ Torcida Jovem met president Marcelo Teixeira at Vila Belmiro on Thursday, hours before the Copa Sudamericana last-16 first leg against Macará-EQU at 19:00 Brasília time. According to Globo.com, the meeting aimed to relay player concerns and press for changes.
On Monday the organised group had spoken with the squad, who raised worries over leaks from inside the club and the presence of non-essential people in day-to-day work at CT Rei Pelé. The grievances were then taken to Teixeira, who missed the earlier conversation as he was in Rio de Janeiro for the Copa do Brasil quarter-final draw.
The supporters urged the club to treat the remaining 17 Campeonato Brasileiro matches as finals, to shield the dressing room, team travel and CT Rei Pelé, and to immediately restrict access to those with defined roles only.
They also demanded a more active stance off the pitch and payment of the transfer ban to facilitate reinforcements. They want affordable ticket prices across all sectors at Vila Belmiro and for fixtures in São Paulo, and for club communications to reflect supporter perspectives.
A promise to act during the 17 league games was cited following the meeting. Santos are currently in the relegation zone.
