As things stand, Marco Palestra is arguably the best youngster in Serie A. As he enjoys a loan at Cagliari from Atalanta, the Italian is increasingly on the radar of big clubs across Europe.
Tottenham have been mentioned as a suitor in recent weeks but they aren’t the only club interested, with Inter also keeping an eye on the 21-year-old.
AtalantaOggi report La Dea are keen on having Palestra back in their squad next season. Despite major interest from clubs, they would only execute a sale if unmissable offers arrive on their table. The Italy international’s current deal runs out in 2029, which makes a possible sale not a priority whatsoever.
This would come as a disappointment to suitors, with La Dea having no intention to part ways.
While England would always be an appealing destination for Palestra, it may not be the most sensible. This isn’t because of suitability or tactics but because of stability. That very reason makes Inter probably the best option for the Italian.
The Nerazzurri have been the hallmark of stability in Serie A for many years now. That is one reason why they are on the cusp of another title win.
There is always a sporting plan in place, which makes almost every player at Inter develop. They could lose Luis Henrique and Denzel Dumfries in the summer, leaving them short in the wing-back department.
Palestra, who can play either side at wing-back and can use both feet, would be quite a signing. He can also act as a back-up for Federico Dimarco on the left, while being the starter on the right.
Cristian Chivu’s system relies on pace, high-tempo and that is very different from how Simone Inzaghi approached games in a more calculated way. The Romanian’s setup suits Palestra’s up-and-down playing style more, as he uses his physical traits to perfection, takes opposition defenders on, confusing them with his dual-footedness.
Even if Chivu isn’t the Inter manager at some point in the future, there is every chance the Nerazzurri don’t transition much from their approach. This makes them stand out and makes them perfect for developing players.
