Marco Silva has begun work at Benfica, setting a different tone for pre-season at Benfica Campus. His methods quickly caught the eye inside the squad.

According to Glorioso 1904, after physical tests and medicals, around 30 players went straight onto the grass, with the focus not solely on conditioning.

The new head coach put the ball out from the off, running a lively session packed with technical drills and a small-sided game that lifted spirits.

He addressed the group as a whole, stressing the squad’s potential and the ambition to deliver a successful season. He has also been meeting players one to one to build confidence, particularly among the younger members. The approach has been well received, shaping a positive start.

The opening pitch session also featured a customary pre-season rite. Senior players formed a tunnel for the newcomers, with playful taps as part of their integration while the youngsters look to impress the coach.

The scene was observed by the club hierarchy. Rui Costa followed the work at close quarters, while Mário Branco and Simão Sabrosa watched on and offered words of encouragement, as intensity, unity and good humour marked day one.
