Marco Silva loans Benfica left back Rafael Obrador to Sassuolo | OneFootball

Rafael Obrador has joined Sassuolo on a season-long loan after limited opportunities under Marco Silva at Benfica.

Benfica said on their website that the move runs until the end of 2026/27 and includes a 7 million euro purchase option for Sassuolo.

The Spain Under-21 international arrived from Real Madrid a year ago for 5 million euros. Madrid retained 50% of any future profit, so in the event of a permanent sale, Benfica would receive only 3.5 million euros.

Obrador returns to Serie A after a January loan to Torino, where he produced three assists and one goal in 17 games. Torino showed interest in a permanent deal but did not trigger a 9 million euro option.

The switch offers the left-back a fresh chance to play regularly and showcase the qualities that convinced Benfica to sign him. It also leaves Benfica with two options at left-back, Samuel Dahl and José Neto.
