Pedrinho has indicated he intends to seek re-election as Vasco president after talks with investors Marcos Lamacchia and Mário Junqueira of Almirante Participações, winners of the club’s SAF auction last Friday. According to Globo.com, the current president acknowledged his plan to stand again for the next three-year term.

He said the new investor asked him to continue so they can work together.

The 2027-2029 election is scheduled for 14 November. The club has not re-elected a president since 2011, when Roberto Dinamite began a second term, serving 2008-2011 then 2011-2014.

Junqueira, who represented Almirante Participações in court, publicly backed Pedrinho staying on and praised his courage. He said he wants to see him re-elected and has already asked him to run.

At the end of last year, Pedrinho had signalled to colleagues that he could step away from a possible re-election bid, citing mental health concerns and time away from his family.

The date was set after challenges and appeals to the General Assembly were closed in September. Slates must register by 15 October and Pedrinho has not yet filed. In all, 7,084 members can vote, of whom 6,168 also meet the club’s statutory eligibility criteria.
