Speaking to Radio CRC, Mario Gila’s agent Alejandro Camano said any club interested in his client must first contact Lazio, amid talk of Napoli entering the picture.

The 25-year-old joined the Biancocelesti in summer 2022. After a slow start he forced his way up the order and is now widely viewed as one of Serie A’s standout centre-backs.

Gila has been linked with Bournemouth, West Ham, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan. AC Milan are thought to be furthest along, with Igli Tare keen to reunite with the defender he brought to Lazio four years ago.

Napoli could yet join the chase, particularly after Gila impressed at the Stadio Maradona last weekend. Maurizio Sarri’s side kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Antonio Conte’s team.

Camano added that life in Naples would be a privilege, but he and Gila will not negotiate with any suitor without Lazio’s approval.

Gila is among Lazio’s lowest earners on a net salary just over €1 million and remains grateful for the club’s faith. His deal runs to June 2027 and talks on a renewal have not begun, prompting suggestions a summer exit is almost inevitable.
